A Few Interesting Accessories for Android Phones

The Android ecosystem currently accounts for more than eighty percent of the total smart phone market. The open source nature of the operating system has made it possible for device manufacturers to customize and implement it as per their requirements. This has led to the growth of several feature-rich devices that are generally available at affordable prices. Apart from the cell phone, there are several accessories that have come up in the last few years, which provide extra functionality to the mobile device.
The most innovative of all Android accessories is undoubtedly the smart watch. Device manufacturers like Samsung and Sony have dedicated a lot of effort behind the development of this device, which acts as a supplement to the phone. As of today, the watch can be connected to the phone via the Bluetooth technology, and can carry out important functionalities such as displaying notifications, sending and receiving calls, clicking photos and running other apps. Although, it can be argued that the smart watch is a gadget in itself, it is still an accessory to the mobile phone as most of its functions are directly dependent on the phone.
Bluetooth technology can be further used to connect to a lot of other devices. Although, it is not limited to Android phones, certain speakers can be used to connect to the mobile phone so as to play music wirelessly. However, on the flip side, the use of excessive Bluetooth can drain out a lot of battery, which is why using USB is a lot wiser option.
The USB connectivity opens up a world of opportunity and does not affect the battery life as well. Keyboards and mouse that have an USB port can be connected to the Android system using the OTG cable. However, not all Android devices support the use of OTG cables, which is why one must always check the compatibility before going ahead. Additionally, there are few keyboards available that have been specially designed in order to be compatible with the Android mobile devices.
The latest versions of Android, Kat Kat 4.4 has introduced new features that have made cloud printing easier for cell phone users. The device can now detect printers that are compatible with Google's Cloud Print technology and print jobs can be spooled wirelessly. There are several more exciting features to come up, especially in the television industry, with Google launching Android devices such as Chromecast and Google TV.
